“Come on,” whispered Leon, “let’s watch some waves.” The boy and the wolf cub walked off together into the night, looking at each other now and then.
As they approached the shoreline, they saw that the sea was lit by silvery moonlight.

Leon could feel the breeze on his face and picked up a few stones and sat down on a large boulder close to the water.

Wolfie sat next to Leon, sniffed the air and watched her two-legged adventurous friend, picked up a few stones and threw them as far out as he could into the water. They listened to the “plops” and watched the rings that spread out across the surface as the moon danced quietly between the clouds.

If Grampy had been there, Leon would have asked him about the star constellations and their meanings, but tonight he just closed his eyes and smiled.
